Red Letter Christianity

Red Letter Christianity is movement that seeks to reform evangelicalism by focusing on the teachings of Jesus, especially in regard to social issues. "Red letter" refers to Bibles that printed the words of Jesus in red, thus drawing special attention to his teachings.

The movement began with Tony Campolo and Jim Wallis who argue that the "religious right" has focused too much attention on abortion and homosexuality to the exclusion of equally important matters such as poverty, AIDS and other social issues. Campolo has written a book, Red Letter Christians, that seeks to explain the movenent.
